Council to Consider Comments on Draft Youth Master Plan

After months of gathering comments from the community, the City Council will discuss the draft Youth Master Plan at tomorrow's meeting.

The City Council will discuss and consider accepting comments on the draft Pleasanton Youth Master Plan.

The document provides an outline of youth services in the City of Pleasanton for the next ten years. The draft master plan calls for the following, among other items.

  • Youth-Friendly Environments, activities and spaces where youth can gather and learn in a safe environment.
  • Opportunities for youth to contribute in a meaningful way to the larger community
  • An ability for youth and adults to learn more about the services and programs available within the city and the school district.

The draft up for discussion tomorrow was put together after a series of workshops and meetings with community members, leaders and youth.

An original master plan was approved in 2001, which later help establish a BMX park and the youth-centered website P-Town 411. In 2008, members of the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee decided to pursue an update to the Master Plan.

After the City Council adopts the draft, a similar presentation will be made to the Pleasanton Unified School District on June 22. A final adoption will occur at the end of the summer.
