Four Burglary Suspects Arrested Following Pursuit

Police credit an alert victim for calling to report the suspicious activity that lead to their arrest.

PLEASANTON, CA: Four San Jose residents suspected of burglarizing multiple cars in the Laguna Oaks neighborhood in Pleasanton are in custody after fleeing from police early this morning, police officials said.

According to a statement released by police, an alert victim call to report four males actively burglarizing a truck parked on the 200 block of Junipero Drive at about 2:15 a.m. Monday.

“Officers arrived within minutes but the suspects fled in a silver sedan,” police officials said. “A check of the area revealed at least two vehicles had been burglarized. At 2:57 a.m., another alert resident on Medallion Court reported a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood. The vehicle matched the description of the vehicle involved in the previous burglaries. Officers responded and established a perimeter. When two officers spotted the suspect vehicle, it fled from officers southbound on Regency Drive.”

Police say the pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle struck a curb and became disabled. Officers arrested three of the occupants and a fourth suspect, who fled to a nearby park, was arrested a short time later following a foot chase.

“The property stolen from the earlier burglaries was located in the suspect vehicle,” police said. “Also located was property believed to be stolen from other burglaries that have yet to be reported.”

Police said Carlos Marcelo, 23, Freddy Reyes, 20, and two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of burglary, evading a police officer, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. All four suspects are from San Jose.

“The apprehension of these suspects was made possible by alert citizens working with the Pleasanton Police Department,” police officials said. “It is because of cooperation by the public that these four are in custody proving that we are indeed ‘Better Together’.”

Pleasanton police said anyone who may have witnessed the auto burglaries or who may have information about any possibly associated burglaries should call them at 925-931-5100.
