Have You Seen This Unicorn Around Pleasanton?

Longtime Pleasanton resident Gina Woodard is looking to "spread joy and not germs" to her neighbors during difficult times.

PLEASANTON, CA — Spotted this pastel unicorn frolicking along the streets of Pleasanton?

Meet Gina Woodard. She's a massage therapist who's lived in Pleasanton for 11 years and isn't able to work, but wanted to find a way to bring happiness to herself and her neighbors.

So naturally, she strapped on her inflatable unicorn suit, created some signs with uplifting messages and pounded the pavement in "the best quarantine suit ever," she said in an email.

"This is a way I could spread joy and not germs," Woodard said.

Her posse has grown.

Last week she was joined by Mayor Jerry Thorne and wife Kaylee, Coucilmember Kathy Nerum, two dinosaurs and a hippo — Joy Liu. She's partied with a woman dressed as a horse and danced in celebration of a 10-year-old's birthday party, with guests scattered across four street corners to respect social distancing.

Passersby have taken note of her gesture:

Though you can't get a good look at Woodard in her unicorn suit, you might have seen a woman dressed up like Santa Claus around the Christmas months, passing out candy canes to kids while riding her Vespa. That's her.

So if you see a pink unicorn dancing around the streets of downtown Pleasanton, give Woodard a honk or a wave. She said she's all about "responsible social distancing with some joy thrown in."
