Heads Up: DUI Checkpoint Coming Up In Tri-Valley

Officers will be checking for impaired driving and valid driver licenses.

LIVERMORE,CA – The Livermore Police Department announced Wednesday that it will conduct a DUI/driver license checkpoint in the evening hours of Saturday, Dec. 29 at an undisclosed location.

"All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers," the department said. "This DUI/driver license checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as insuring drivers have a valid driver’s license."

Officers will be checking for signs of impaired driving whether from alcohol or drugs.

"Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs. DUI doesn't just mean booze," the agency said, adding that such enforcement operations are an effective tool for keeping streets safe.

Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
