Letter to Editor: Ventana Hills Resident Opposes Lund Ranch Referendum

Chris Coleman says the referendum will not stop the project.

Dear Editor,

I am a resident of Ventana Hills and a supporter of Measure PP. However, I oppose the referendum to overturn the Lund Ranch II development for the following reasons:

  1. The Lund Ranch development is consistent with Measure PP in that it has no homes on ridge lines nor on hillsides greater than 25%
  2. The project was originally more than 140 homes and has been reduced to 43 due to PP and concerns about traffic
  3. The referendum will cost the citizens of Pleasanton nearly $250,0000 to hold the election. After many years of public hearings, this is wasteful.
  4. Although we in Ventana Hills still have concerns about traffic, the approved development is a compromise where our neighborhood and Sycamore Heights/Bridle Creek will share traffic roughly 50-50
  5. This referendum will not stop the project; it will merely require a new plan with potentially more homes or one neighborhood bearing the brunt of all the increased traffic
  6. The current plan gives our citizens 177 acres of open space and hiking trails.
