Pistachios Recalled Because of Salmonella Threat

The pistachios were sold in bags by themselves, and included in mixed nuts and trail mix.

Braga Organic Farms is recalling pistachios and products containing them after a routine test by the FDA found Salmonella in a one-pound package of raw pistachio kernels purchased online.

The recalled nuts were sold in California, Oregon, Washington and online.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy victims can experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
