Pleasanton Candidates Can Begin Filing Monday

Candidates for mayor, the City Council, and the Pleasanton Unified School District Board can file from July 18 through Aug. 12.

PLEASANTON, CA — Want to make a difference in Pleasanton? From Monday until Friday, Aug. 12 at 5 p.m., Pleasanton registered voters are eligible to file paperwork to run for a council member from District 1, a council member from District 3, or for mayor at-large.

All candidates must be 18 or older and registered to vote in Pleasanton. Candidates must live in the district they hope to represent. See here to find your district.

Seats are also available on the Pleasanton Unified School District Board.

So far, Mayor Karla Brown has announced her intention to run for re-election, as has District 3 Councilmember Julie Testa. Commission on Energy and Environment Chair Joel Liu has announced he will run against Testa for the District 3 seat. Planning Commissioner Justin Brown has also announced his candidacy to represent District 5 on the PUSD Board.

If any other incumbents do not file within the required period, the deadline extends to Aug. 17.
