Pleasanton Celebrating Black History Month With Celebrations, Talks

The Pleasanton Library and Museum on Main are hosting events celebrating African-American history and achievements.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton is celebrating Black History Month with a celebration at the Pleasanton Library on Feb. 28.

The free event will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and "honor and reflect on the achievements, contributions, and lasting legacy of Black individuals whose leadership, creativity, and resilience have helped shape our nation’s history and continue to influence our communities today."

On Feb. 26, the Museum on Main is also hosting two events featuring a portrayal of Sojourner Truth, a woman born into enslavement who became one of the 19th century's most powerful advocates for African-American and women's rights. She will be portrayed by actor, storyteller, and educator Madelyn Porter. The talk will take place at the Firehouse Arts Center at 2 and 7 p.m., and air online on March 5.
