PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton City Council voted to approve approximately $1.9 million in upgrades to Lions Wayside and Delucchi parks.

The council selected a design that includes a new bandstand on the north side of Lions Wayside, expands the lawn area for concert viewing from 24,000 to roughly 27,000 square feet, and allows for the Firehouse Arts Center Plaza to be incorporated as a spot to view concerts. The plan will also add additional trees, seating, picnic areas, and a new dance area in front of the bandstand.

In Delucchi Park, the selected plan updates the landscaping around the restroom and the existing pathway to the crosswalk at Neal Street.

The design process is expected to complete in the fall or winter, and construction is scheduled to begin after the 2024 concert series, and be ready in time for the 2025 concert series.

“Our downtown parks are a staple for community gatherings in Pleasanton. We love concerts in the park, eating ice cream with our families, playing games, and going on a picnic under a shady tree,” Pleasanton Mayor Karla Brown said in a statement. “The investment into the Lions Wayside Park and bandstand is something to be proud of and will add a creative, exciting, and new feeling to the entire downtown area.”
