Pleasanton Hires Two New Police Officers

The police department hosted a swearing-in ceremony to welcome the new employees.

PLEASANTON, CA — Two new officers were recently welcomed to the Pleasanton Police Department. Pleasanton natives Kayla Furphy and Robert Kidd were sworn in on Feb. 27. Furphy, an Amador Valley High graduate, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California University, East Bay.

Kidd was raised in Livermore and graduated from Granada High School. He earned an Associate’s degree from Las Positas College.

Furphy graduated from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Center and Kidd attended the South Bay Police Academy. Both graduated on February 8, 2019.

Kidd will be carrying on the family tradition at the department. His grandfather was a Pleasanton police officer in the 1950s, according to the department.

The new officers will participate in an intense field training process before they hit the streets of Pleasanton on their own.
