PLEASANTON, CA — A traffic stop by Pleasanton police last month led to the arrest of a man found with drugs and a loaded stolen handgun in his vehicle. According to police, Gabriel Vincent Perez, 39, of San Leandro was pulled over by officers May 25 just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of Owens and Hacienda drives. During the stop, it was determined he was driving with a suspended license and didn't have an ignition interlock device installed on the vehicle as mandated, according to police. The device is a breathalyzer, and under California law is required for known drunken or drugged driving offenders.

During a vehicle search, officers found a meth pipe, methamphetamine and a loaded handgun that was later confirmed to be stolen, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

Perez was booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a concealed firearm inside a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended driver’s license for DUI and failure to possess a required interlock device.
