Police ID Pleasanton Chevron Robbery Suspect

Police said John Wainscott, who was recently accused of a robbery in Dublin, also robbed a Chevron in Pleasanton.

PLEASANTON, CA — A Concord man recently accused of robbing a Dublin 7-Eleven store is now also accused of robbing a Chevron store in Pleasanton, according to Pleasanton police. Dublin police investigators arrested 27-year-old John Wainscott earlier this month after he allegedly robbed a Dublin 7-Eleven store. Police said he made the clerk believe he was armed with a gun and was able to get away with cash and lottery tickets.

He was arrested on March 9 at his home. Police said officers discovered evidence linking him to the robbery during a search of his home.

Pleasanton police said Wainscott also robbed the Chevron on Hopyard Road at about 2 a.m. on Feb. 23. Police said the he made the clerk believe he was armed with a knife and was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of case. Earlier this month, police asked for the public’s help identifying the man who had "unique scars" on his face.

Dublin investigators said Wainscott is also a suspect in a rash of other robberies in San Ramon and throughout the Bay Area.
