Police Search For Shooting Suspect In Pleasanton: Report

Police said the search was connected with an investigation by the Belmont Police Department.

PLEASANTON, CA — Police searched a neighborhood in Pleasanton for a person suspected in the shooting death of a Redwood City teen, according to reports. Residents reported heavy police activity and several helicopters in the area of Arlington Drive late Tuesday afternoon.

A 17-year-old Redwood City boy was shot and killed in front of an elementary school in Belmont late Monday night, according to police. Police said family members of the victim, whose name hasn't been released by officials, called police around 10:55 p.m. requesting a welfare check on the
victim who they believed was at Central Elementary School in the 500 block of Middle Road.

When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the parking lot at the front of the school, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen has not been identified police, but ABC7 News identified him as a senior at Carlmont High School. They said Mohammad Othman was a football player at the school, though he lived in Redwood City. Authorities believe Othman knew the person who shot him. Full ABC 7 story here.
