Sunol Streets Evacuated, Park Closures As Second Storm Hits Pleasanton
Here's what Pleasanton residents need to know another atmospheric river brings more heavy rain and winds.

PLEASANTON, CA — Various closures and evacuations in and around Pleasanton have been announced as a second atmospheric river rolls into Pleasanton, bringing heavy rains and winds of up to 45 mph to the beleaguered city. The city remains under a High Wind Warning until 10 a.m. Thursday, and an Areal Flood Watch until 4 p.m. Thursday. Rains are expected to subside Friday, then resume for at least another week and a half.
Residents along Kilkare Road, Palomares Road, and Niles Canyon Road have been asked to leave their homes, according to the Alameda County Office of Emergency Services. Residents in these communities may be severely impacted by the rain, and emergency vehicles may not able to access the area, according to Alameda County. Residents can find shelter at Washington High School in Fremont (38442 Fremont Boulevard), and is open until Friday afternoon.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, all of Kilkare Road is closed. Happy Valley Road is closed from Pleasanton-Sunol Road to Alisal Street. See here for a full list of street closures around the Triple-Valley.

All of East Bay Regional Parks are closed Wednesday and Thursday, including Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park. The city has also closed Augustin Bernal Park, the Centennial Trail from Rotary Park to Harvest Circle, and the north side of the Arroyo Mocho Trail from Hopyard Road to the Arroyo de la Laguna.
The city is offering sandbags at the Operations Services Department at 3333 Busch Road, though it is currently out, as of Wednesday night. Freda Leonard, the store manager of city supplier Richard Lumber, told Patch that she is out of bags, but will give away sand to Pleasanton residents until 5 p.m. The city said that it ran out of bags Tuesday morning after distributing 2300 bags since Friday, then got a new shipment of a few thousand more.

The Alameda County Public Works Agency also has sandbags available at their Maintenance and Operations Corporation Yard at 4825 Gleason Drive. Zone 7 Water Agency is also offering pre-filled sandbags at the Parkside Administrative Building on 5997 Parkside Drive, though they may also run out.
Residents are asked to avoid all travel unless strictly necessary. If a street is flooded, do not attempt to drive through it. To report flooding, damage, or other hazards, call the Pleasanton Operation Services Department at 925-931-550 during business hours, 925-931-5100 after-hours, or email osd@cityofpleasantonca.gov. To report downed power or electrical lines, contact PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.
Power outage maps can be viewed here. On Wednesday morning, 1,907 customers around Pleasanton Sports Park lost power, then regained it at around 11. Aside from 114 customers around downtown Livermore, no major outages have been reported Wednesday in the Tri-Valley.
Residents are also advised to avoid creeks and arroyos, avoid attempting to walk through any sort of flowing water, and stay away from downed power lines and electrical wires.
