Suspect At Large After Pursuit Of Stolen Van Ends In Dublin Creek

Police said the pursuit went through Pleasanton, Dublin and San Ramon before ending in the Alamo Creek.

DUBLIN, CA — A man driving a stolen van is at large after refusing to yield during an attempted traffic stop in Pleasanton early Thursday morning, police officials said. Just before 3 a.m., an officer tried to stop a 2002 Ford Econoline van, which was stolen from Oakland earlier this month, and the driver gave chase.

Police said the pursuit went through Dublin, into San Ramon and ended when the suspect drove into a Dublin Meadows Apartment Complex. The suspect, who was in a dead-end street, allegedly rammed a patrol car twice and accelerated through a cyclone fence, ending up submerged in the Alamo Creek near the Iron Horse Trail.

“The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the creek area,” police said in a statement. “With the assistance of Dublin Police Services a perimeter was established. A K-9 search was conducted but the search was met with negative results.”
