Henry, a longtime local hiker and mountain biker, argues the district needs better governance, more accessible trails, and clearer communication on lawsuits and land-use decisions that affect Tri-Valley parks and open space.

• Alameda County DA, 29 other jurisdictions reach $3.15 million settlement with Terminix (mercurynews.com) — Pleasanton residents should know that Terminix, operating locally under Western Exterminator and Terminix, is part of a $3.15 million statewide settlement over improper pesticide disposal and mishandling of customer records. Alameda County will receive about $160,000, and the company has agreed to tighten its environmental and data-handling practices at facilities including those in Pleasanton, Hayward and Union City.
