Man Killed In Ramona Shooting

RAMONA, CA — A man was shot to death early Thursday in a rural eastern San Diego County neighborhood.

A resident of the 600 block of Pine Street in Ramona heard a gunshot and found the unidentified victim in front of a neighboring home about 5:45 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.

Paramedics took the mortally wounded man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Little information about the case, including a description of the shooter, was available as of mid-afternoon.

"The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing," Lt. David Gilmore said. "There is no one in custody for this (shooting)."
