Feather Fire Near Ramona Sparked by Mowing Equipment

BARONA, CA — A wildland fire that broke out Monday in Barona and spread to 30 acres within minutes was sparked by mowing equipment, a Cal Fire-San Diego official said.
The Feather Fire erupted, which erupted about 1:15 p.m. Monday near Featherstone Canyon Road, was 133 acres and 90 percent contained as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to Capt. Kendal Bortisser of Cal Fire-San Diego.
At its height Monday, the fast-moving fire prompted evacuations of residents of Barona Mesa.

Crews fought the fire from the ground and from the air, and by Monday night, had the blaze 50 percent contained.
No injuries or structural damages have been reported as a result of the fire.
