• California outage leaves 2,800 in the dark, closes 3 San Diego County schools (thecooldown.com) — An unplanned San Diego Gas & Electric outage left more than 2,800 customers without power and shut down Ramona High School, Olive Peirce Middle School, and Ramona Community Campus during a heat wave. Officials are still investigating the cause, while experts warn that losing electricity during extreme heat can quickly become dangerous and suggest backup options like solar-plus-battery systems for those who can afford them.
