Oyster Day, Night Out Against Crime and Meet Thomas Edison

Oyster Day

• Did you know August 5 is National Oyster Day? AVANT Kitchen at the Rancho Bernardo Inn will serve oysters from the finest waters with an array of condiments including the signature atomic horseradish. AVANT Kitchen will open at 4 p.m on Monday, Aug. 5 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. 

• Fight against crime at the library. The event will feature a meet and greet with deputies who patrol your neighborhoods, services the Police Department provides, crime prevention tips, food, kids activities and more. National Night Out Against Crime will light up at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Rancho Bernardo Library. 

• Feeling stressed? The library will host a yoga meditation class to help reduce everyday stress. The class will start at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the 4S Ranch Library. 

• Peter Small will bring the historic scientist and inventor Thomas Edison to life. He will share insight into his inventions and the life he lived. The event will start at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Rancho Bernardo Library. 

• Browse through local art with a wine glass in hand. Sunset Artwalk will feature vendors, food, music and more. The event will kick off at 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Bernardo Winery.
