CHP Out In Force Over Thanksgiving Weekend

California Highway Patrol Officers will be on the lookout for motorists driving drunk or violating other traffic laws over the long weekend.

Drive safely, and remember to call an uber for your tipsy relatives. This holiday weekend, the California Highway Patrol will deploy all available officers for patrol duty across southern California. CHP patrols began Wednesday, looking out for motorists driving drunk or violating other traffic laws over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The "maximum enforcement period" was to begin at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday and will continue through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, according to the CHP.

"Whatever your destination this Thanksgiving, remember to buckle up and avoid distractions while driving -- and give yourself plenty of time for your trip so, you and your passengers can arrive safely," said CHP Commissioner Warren Stanley.

"Remembering to wear your seat belt every day is a good practice, but take extra care over the long holiday to ensure you are able to enjoy the festivities with friends and family," Stanley said.
