Firefighters Hurt--Cats Saved--Family Displaced In Silverado Fire
At least one firefighter was injured and 8 people were displaced in a Silverado Canyon house fire. Two cats were rescued from the blaze.

SILVERADO CANYON, CA -- Two Orange County firefighters sustained minor injuries and two cats were rescued in an extra-alarm fire in Silverado Monday afternoon. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes of calls coming in of smoke billowing from a structure, according to witnesses. The cats saved from the burning structure were given oxygen by emergency responders and were in good shape, according to reports.
The fire broke out around noon Monday in a single-story home in the 29400 block of Silverado Canyon Road, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said.
It took more than an hour for 46 firefighters to knock down the blaze that displaced four adults and four children, Kurtz said.

Both firefighters injured in the blaze were expected to make a full recovery. The fire was reported out as of 3 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
