OC Native Will Ferrell Earns Star on Walk of Fame Despite Loathing of Mayors
Comedic Actor Will Ferrell was honored with the 2,547th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday.

Will Ferrell received the 2,547th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today for starring in some of the most memorable movie comedies of the 21st century.
John C. Reilly, who co-starred with Ferrell in βTalladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobbyβ and βStep Brothers,β and Ferrellβs βSaturday Night Liveβ castmate, Molly Shannon, were among those joining him at the ceremony in front of the Hollywood Wax Museum.
Mayor Eric Garcetti and Kevin Hart, Ferrellβs co-star in his upcoming movie, βGet Hard,β also attended the ceremony, which came three days before the release of βGet Hard.β

βIβve never had a mayor say nice things on my behalf,β Ferrell joked after Garcetti praised him at the ceremony. βIβve had plenty of mayors say horrible things about me. And I mean horrible, hateful things. The mayor of Arcadia despises me. I donβt know why. I never met him, I donβt even frequent Arcadia, but he hates me.β
Born July 16, 1967, in Irvine, where he was raised, Ferrell graduated from USC with a degree in sports information, but instead pursued a career in comedy. He was a member of the famed improvisational group βThe Groundlings,β where he was discovered for βSaturday Night Live.β

During his seven seasons on βSaturday Night Live,β Ferrell is remembered for his portrayals of Craig the Spartan Spirit Cheerleader, middle school music teacher Marty Culp and impressions of then-President George W. Bush, then-Attorney General Janet Reno, βJeopardy!β host Alex Trebek, singer Neil Diamond and the late Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray.
Ferrell received Emmy nominations in 2001 for outstanding individual performance in a variety or music program and outstanding writing for a variety, music or comedy program.
Ferrellβs movie roles include βAnchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundyβ and its sequel, βAnchorman 2: The Legend Continuesβ -- he co-wrote both -- βThe Campaign,β and the Spanish-language telenovela spoof βCasa de mi Padre.β
Ferrellβs other film credits also include βElf,β βZoolander,β βOld School,β and βThe Producers,β which earned him his first Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor. Ferrell received a second Golden Globe nomination in 2006, for best actor in a comedy or musical, for his portrayal of IRS agent Harold Crick in βStranger Than Fiction.β
Ferrell received a Tony Award nomination for his Broadway debut, headlining the one-man show βWill Ferrell: Youβre Welcome America, A Final Night with George W Bush.β At the end of its Broadway run, Ferrell performed the show, live, in its entirety on HBO, earning Emmy Award nominations for outstanding variety, musical or comedy special and outstanding writing for a variety, musical or comedy special.
Ferrell and his writing partner Adam McKay are the founders of the video website Funnyordie.com.
