Coroner IDs Anaheim Resident In Fatal DUI Crash

An Anaheim man was ID'd in a fatal collision Saturday night in Irvine. The driver, a Rancho Santa Margarita man, was suspected of DUI.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA - A Rancho Santa Margarita man was arrested for driving under the influence in a crash that fatally injured his passenger over the weekend, authorities said.

The Orange County coroner's office Monday identified 31-year-old Jeremy Salisbury of Anaheim as the man killed in the DUI freeway crash.

A truck driven by 29-year-old Adrian Marquez collided with a sign just before 1 a.m. Saturday, on the transition road from the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway to the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Irvine Spectrum area, California Highway Patrol Sgt. H. Maxson said.

The 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac pickup truck driven by Marquez, a resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, was moving at a high rate of speed when the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a large diameter metal sign pole, Maxson said.

"The right-front passenger was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle," Maxson said.

Salisbury was the passenger in the car at the time of the collision.

Marquez was taken to Mission Regional Hospital with major injuries, Maxson said. He was arrested after it was determined he was under the influence of alcohol, officials said.
