Wind Advisory In Effect Across Orange County

Strong northeast winds blowing a sustained 20 to 30 miles per hour, gusting up to 50 miles per hour.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — The National Weather Service alerted inland Orange County of a wind event that would last until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, New Year's Eve.

Northeast winds would blow a sustained 20 to 30 miles per hour, gusting from 40 to 50 miles per hour, according to reports.

The northern portions of the Inland Empire, the Santa Ana mountain foothills and the inland areas of Orange County were all affected by the alert.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down," an NWS spokesperson said. Power outages may occur in some areas.

The strongest winds were expected overnight, Monday into Tuesday morning, the NWS said.

"Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle," they said. "Also, secure outdoor objects" to prevent them from blowing around.
