Our Idiot Brother, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, and Colombiana all open this weekend
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Colombiana, and Our Idiot Brother are all new in theaters this weekend.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark stars Katie Holmes as a woman who is restoring a Gothic mansion with her new boyfriend. It’s definitely a scare fest, according to the New York Post’s Kyle Smith, who wrote, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark will turn your nerve endings to Popsicles.” Colombiana focuses on Zoe Saldana’s Cataleya, an assassin who witnessed the murder of her parents as a child. According to USA Today’s Claudia Puig, “This is a showy flower of an action film. Saldana doesn’t get much of a chance to emote, but her action skills blossom."
Our Idiot Brother stars Paul Rudd as the aforementioned idiot brother of Zooey Deschanel, Elizabeth Banks and Emily Mortimer. Ann Hornaday of the Washington Post was only somewhat impressed, saying, “Rudd has created a genuinely engaging character in the Candide-like Ned, but Our Idiot Brother gives him very little garden to cultivate."
