A Holy Break from Politics

A car show in Redlands on Sunday offers tours of the oldest -- and most attractive church -- among the 70 churches in the city.

I will take a break this election season -- and just this once -- from blogging to brag about the Sunday car show at the First Congregational Church in Redlands.

So what separates our car show from the 2.74 million other car shows in Southern California each year?

Our church -- the most beautiful in Redlands.

Our church is the same one whose bells ring every hour and coat downtown with a most wondrous sound. Our car show will offer freeΒ tours of a church that turns the heads of every driver, pedestrian and bicyclist who passes by.

C'mon in and see why!

The First Congregational Church is on the corner of Cajon and Olive streets. The show, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., on Oct. 14, is free and open to the public. We will have quizzes for adults and games for the kids. We also have a deejay who spins tunes to the times when the cars on display were hot rods in the streets.

There is no entry fee for classic cars, antiques, hot rods and trucks. Each car entrantΒ gets a free barbecue dinner. Visitors can buy the same dinner for $5.

For more information, call the church at 909-793-3157.

And if you come inside the church, please don't forget toΒ appreciate at our Tiffany windows on the way out!
