Billy Carter?

America will always have Billy Carter, but the Inland Empire now has Russ Warner, a joke of a candidate running for the California Assembly.

Russ Warner got a political butt kicking in June, when incumbent Mike Morrell stomped Warner by a double-digit figure. Only two candidates were vying for the newly drawn 40th District, so Warner wanted to try winning the seat again, this time using even slimier campaign tactics.

Note to Warner: Before painting your opponent as unworthy, you need to ensure your own family even likes you.

Russ Warner's sister, Nancy Warner Moore, endorsed Mike Morrell on Oct. 22.

In a press release, Morrell said he was shocked when he got a call from Warner's sister.

"When she asked me for the largest lawn sign I have, I had to deliver it to her," Morrell said in the press release. "It's good to know that it really does pay off when you take the high road."

Not since Billy Carter has one family wanted to stick one of its own on a milk carton.

And I know why the Warner family is embarrassed by Russ.

Two weeks before the June primary, I was involved in an incident in Redlands when some political punks tried to provoke Morrell into some silly confrontation at a coffee shop. A lady in a van, parked in a handicapped spot, was videotaping.

Morrell never bought the bait because he is an honorable man who is unafraid of tough moments and questioning. The lady in the van never got her footage.

I know Mike Morrell. I am proud to have his sign in my yard (I have since given it to another fan at my church). I will be voting for him on Nov. 6 because he is a true patriot, an genuine conservative and a great American. He will keep an eye on my tax dollars like an eagle hunting for fish.

I don't know Russ Warner. I don't want to. I hope everyone reading this has the decency not to vote for him because Warner is just a punk who should move to Georgia.
