In Quietness...

Handling stressful situations.

The night had been long and rough and Ben, Melissa’s husband found her early the next morning in acute pain.

She complained that the hospital ward was noisy and while one of her roommates constantly made obnoxious snuffling sounds, the other had the TV on loud and obstinately refused to turn it down.

Ben, who felt Melissa was entitled to better treatment, strode out of the room and approached the charge nurse who was washing her hands. He demanded a different room for Melissa and insisted on reviewing her chart. He then threatened legal action if it wasn’t handed to him immediately.

The nurse quietly replied that there was a hospital policy for this which outlined a process  and she would be happy to get the forms for him, but the chart was not available for his immediate perusal. She added that the ward was full and there were no other rooms available. Ben began to rage.

While some of the stress you face may be very different to Ben's or even the Charge Nurses, that doesn't make it necessarily any less stress. If it is not handled in a healthy way, it can be very damaging. So what is the answer here?

Inspiration writes, “In quietness shall be your strength.”  (Isaiah 30:15)  Sometimes we may not have the right words to say, but our calm spirit can calm tense situations, not only when dealing with others, but also ourselves!

Blessings on your week
