Mitsubishi i-MiEV Named 'Greenest' Car
Mitsubishi's revolutionary all-electric i-MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) has been named top of the list of green cars in America.

Mitsubishi's revolutionary all-electric i-MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) has been named top of the list of green cars in America, according to a Washington, D.C.-based environmental group.
The i-MiEV beat out Nissan and Honda alternative fuel vehicles to top the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE)'s annual green car guide. The ACEEE's green car guide ranks alternative fuel cars based on a "green" score using fuel efficiency, tail pipe emissions and environmental impact rankings.
"The i-MiEV is currently on sale in the United States and is proving popular with test drivers who say it handles like a regular subcompact," said Mike Graeber, general manager of San Bernardino Mitsubishi. "This award shows that Mitsubishi is a leader in developing innovative automotive technology."

Shruti Vaidyanathan, head vehicle analyst for the ACEEE, said being named top green car was a significant achievement for the brand-new Mitsubishi i-MiEV.
The i-MiEV, which can be charged from a wall-mounted plug, received a green score of 58, which was three points ahead of the Honda Civic and the Nissan Leaf. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the i-MiEV has a range of 62 miles (98 miles for city driving) and 112 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe.) Drivers who purchase the i-MiEV are also eligible for a $7,500 tax credit. The i-MiEV has a top speed of 80 mph.
