Paul Ryan is Running Against Paul Ryan

I thought Sarah Palin was the worst vice presidential candidate I had ever seen, but Rep. Paul Ryan is giving her a run for her money.

Ryan is Palin 2.0

I thought Sarah Palin was the worst vice presidential candidate I had ever seen, but Rep. Paul Ryan is giving her a run for her money.

Ryan, a nod to the right wing of the already conservative Republican party, is another example of how out touch with reality the GOP is. Ryan, an Ayn Rand devotee, is also the genius behind a budget proposal, that would slash programs such as Medicare and Pell grants to give tax cuts to the wealthy.

Ryan claims to be a fan of small government, but has spent most of his professional life working in a government job, with a great benefits program. This is just one of many contradictions in Ryan's personality. He is a Roman Catholic who is a follower of Ayn Rand, an atheist, free love advocate, who railed against the family unit. Rand, who hated government programs that supported the poor, also died on Medicare and Social Security.

In addition, although Ryan is billed as a budgetary conservative he voted for the bank bailout, the Medicare drug benefit and two unfunded wars. (He also signed off on George W. Bush's stimulus program.) It seems that like his intellectual hero Ayn Rand, Ryan likes government programs, when its convenient. Case in point, Ryan wrote letters requesting Obama stimulus funds for companies in his district. Although in a recent interview he denied this, even though there are letters on record with his signature asking for funds. Now Ryan is saying that he didn't know he signed those letters.Β  But if your name appears on a document you have to take ownership.

Another whopper Ryan has told is his denial of his affection for Ayn Rand. However he is on record giving a 2005 speech to the Atlas Society, where he said, "I grew up reading Ayn Rand and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are, and what my beliefs are. It’s inspired me so much that it’s required reading in my office for all my interns and my staff." But in a recent National Review article, Ryan said, "I reject her philosophy. It’s an atheist philosophy. It reduces human interactions down to mere contracts and it is antithetical to my worldview. If somebody is going to try to paste a person’s view on epistemology to me, then give me Thomas Aquinas." A little piece of advice Mr. Ryan, if you are going to talk to the media, stick to one story.

So let's get this straight, you have a vice president, who can't get his lies straight, has little private sector experience and supports a budget proposal that would turn Medicare into a voucher program. Β Sarah Palin is looking better and better every minute.
