'Girls Got Geek Hackathon' Sked 6/23 in San Bernardino for Tech-Minded Misses

Event organizer and tech blogger Cynthia Renee Frazier is reaching out to females ages 8 to 25 and their families, to harness their interest in communications technology.

Girls and young women interested in mobile devices, computers and communications technology are invited to a "Girls Got Geek Hackathon" on Saturday June 23 in San Bernardino.

Event organizer and tech blogger Cynthia Renee Frazier says she is reaching out to females ages 8 to 25 and their families to harness young women's interest in communications technology.

"If boys are interested it's ok but the focus is on girls," Frazier said Tuesday in a phone interview.

The free event is scheduled 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, Henderson Auditorium, 1800 N. Western Ave.

Frazier said she intends to share her vision of how Inland Empire girls and women can use Silicon Valley tech know-how to distinguish themselves in the current challenging job market.

Cupcakes and ice cream will be served, Frazier said.

"Join us and support girls who want to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math careers," she said in an announcement.
