The project improved the Lugonia undercrossing, added a new sidewalk segment, and installed an accessible crosswalk to better serve people walking between Tennessee Avenue and Citrus Plaza Drive.

Man arrested after shots fired outside Whiskey Republic in Redlands, police say (communityforwardredlands.com) — Redlands police arrested a man after gunshots were reported outside Whiskey Republic on East Redlands Boulevard, where officers later recovered an unregistered "ghost gun." In separate incidents, officers arrested a suspect in a Circle K robbery on West Redlands Boulevard and are investigating an armed necklace robbery involving three juveniles near Citrus Valley High School on West Pioneer Avenue.

Redlands Planning Commission to consider two major housing developments Oct. 13 (communityforwardredlands.com) — Redlands residents face big changes as the Planning Commission weighs nearly 450 new homes in northwest Redlands on Tuesday, Oct. 13, including apartments with some lower‑income units and a new single‑family neighborhood. The agenda also includes an office expansion on Nevada Street and a decision on vacating a temporary roadway easement near the 210 Freeway, with in‑person and Zoom participation options available.
   

4. Train robbers lose police after high-speed chase in San Bernardino Mountains (cbsnews.com) — A Union Pacific train was robbed in Redlands early Thursday, sparking a high-speed chase into the San Bernardino Mountains before five suspects escaped on foot near Crestline. Authorities say the thieves may be armed but recovered the train's cargo, and nearby schools remained open under normal lockdown procedures while deputies continued searching the area Thursday night.
   

5. Nanooks Swimming Begins Season in California (alaskananooks.com) — Redlands will host college swimmers Saturday as the Alaska Nanooks join several West Coast teams for the Bulldog Pentathlon at Thompson Aquatic Center.
