Learn to Better Paint With Oil
Artist Chick Curtis will demonstrate his techniques for oil painting during a talk at the Loma Linda Senior Center.
Riverside artist Chick Curtis will demonstrate his techniques for oil painting during a talk from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Loma Linda Senior Center.
Curtis, who has shown his work in Redlands, San Bernardino, Riverside, Pomona and Los Angeles, is making his third appearance for the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association.
Curtis said he has been an oil painter for 17 years and developed his love of art from his late mother, Dotty Curtis. Curtis and his brothers, Chris and Buzz, are all artists.

During Sunday’s talk, Curtis wants “to encourage people to look at the painting process – step by step.” He will use a limited palette to display his oil painting techniques.
The most important steps are composition, establishing a value or tone, and temperature. Once those steps are achieved, artists can be as creative as they want with the color.
