Neil Derry is Scheduled to be Arraigned Today

The supervisor who represents the third district, that includes Loma Linda, Redlands, Highland and San Bernardino, faces felony perjury charges.

Loma Linda’s embattled County Supervisor Neil Derry is scheduled for arraignment today in San Bernardino Superior Court.

Derry, the third district Supervisor, faces charges of felony perjury and filing campaign documents that failed to report a $5,000 contribution from Arnold Stubblefield-Highland Town Shops.

He is scheduled to appear at 8 a.m. in department S23, according to San Bernardino District Attorney records.

The California State Attorney General’s office filed the charges in April accusing the supervisor of laundering between $5,000 and $10,000 in campaign contributions through a political action committee.

State officials said Derry “knowingly” submitted a campaign report that did not list the contributions. Officials said he also failed to report Stubblefield as a contributor, which is a misdemeanor.

“I have always tried to comply with the reporting requirements for my campaigns,” Derry said in a written statement released in April. “If I made a mistake I will correct it. I was not informed of this supposed error before I received the complaint, however, and have not been given the opportunity to voluntarily correct any mistake.”

The alleged impropriety was found during an investigation into political corruption in San Bernardino County, said a spokesman with the State Attorney General’s office. Some of that alleged corruption involved former San Bernardino County Assessor and Supervisor Bill Postmus.

Derry could face up four years in prison if convicted.
