Story of Child's Alleged Kidnapping in Redlands Detailed

A Redlands man accused of kidnapping and molesting a child whose family lives in the same complex as his family, has been ordered to stand trial.

A Redlands man accused of kidnapping a 4-year-old girl as she was playing in front of a neighboring apartment and molesting her has been ordered to stand trial on six felony counts.

A San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge ordered Terence Anthony Giberson, 52, held over for trial after listening to testimony at a preliminary hearing held Dec. 20. He is scheduled to return to court Tuesday to be arraigned.

Deputy District Attorney Maryann Choi, who is prosecuting the case, said after Tuesday's court proceedings that she was pleased.

Police say Giberson and the child were found inside his apartment, which is near his home, and both were nude.

One investigator said that the child's father tracked the child to an apartment where a television was loudly playing, according to The Sun. That’s when the man heard his daughter crying for him, as described by Redlands Police officers, who responded to the call.

According to testimony, a sheriff's High-Tech Crimes Detective found pornographic material that may feature minor, The Sun reported.

Giberson has been charged with kidnapping to commit a lewd act on a child, two counts of oral copulation/sexual penetration with a child under 10, two counts of a forcible lewd act upon a child, and possession of child pornography, according to an amended criminal complaint.

Giberson remained in custody at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
