Supervisor Neil Derry is Booked Into Jail

Neil Derry fulfilled an agreement and reported to the jail, where he was booked and released.

On Thursday, San Bernardino County Supervisor Neil Derry fulfilled an agreement he with the court to report to the jail for booking.

According to jail records, the supervisor was booked at 7:35 a.m. He was released soon after.

Derry had agreed during his arraignment to turn himself in for booking.

The State Attorney General’s office has charged Derry with felony perjury and filing campaign documents that failed to report a $5,000 contribution from Arnold Stubblefield-Highland Town Shops.

Officials said Derry knowingly submitted a campaign report with the omission. Officials also said he failed to report Stubblefield as a contributor, which is a misdemeanor.

“The felony counts are utterly without basis and we are going to vigorously attack those counts in the upcoming preliminary hearing,” said Derry’ attorney George Newhouse in an interview last week.

The alleged impropriety was found during an investigation into political corruption in San Bernardino County, according to state Attorney General’s officials. Some of that alleged corruption involved former San Bernardino County Assessor and Supervisor Bill Postmus.
