• Interview: Director Michael Keith Allen on PICK OF THE VINE… (broadwayworld.com) — Little Fish Theatre's Pick of the Vine short-play festival is currently running at The Pond on Prospect Avenue in Redondo Beach, with performances through September 6 and free onsite parking. Director Michael Keith Allen shares how the seven "Unexpected Guest"-themed plays were chosen, staged in-the-round, and tied together, while the company also searches for a new Beach Cities home as its lease ends next spring.
   

• South Bay History: Clifton-by-the-Sea took the long way to becoming part of Redondo Beach (dailybreeze.com) — A once-separate coastal development called Clifton-by-the-Sea, now known as South Redondo and "The Avenues," was slowly annexed into Redondo Beach over much of the 20th century. The piece traces Henry Huntington's original resort vision, the short-lived golf course and country club, and decades of annexation battles that ended when 778 homes officially became part of the city in 1982.
   

• ICE arrests illegal immigrant in Redondo Beach after 5 re-entries (amedpost.com) — ICE agents arrested a repeatedly deported Mexican national during a morning encounter on the Redondo Beach Esplanade, following several prior arrests by Redondo Beach Police and other agencies. The report details his long history of alcohol-related and other offenses, ICE's criticism of sanctuary-style non-cooperation, and the man's own admission that his drinking contributed to his situation.
