An Italian Mixer Featuring Olive Oil!
Bridges to Italy and the Academy of Foreign Languages hosts a unique and tasty evening, Italian style!

I'm always going on about all the fabulous things there are to do in the South Bay (that's what we do here at South Bay by Jackie!) but sometimes, even I'm surprised by the quality and impact of small events taking place right here in our back yard.
There are so many teriffic organizations operating in the area that get little to no publicity, and we do our best to get the word out.
Last night was a great example! We attended the monthly South Bay Italian Mixer —hosted by Bridges to Italy and the Academy of Foreign Languages—at . The mixer featured an olive oil tasting with guest speaker Marco Filippi from Olio & Olive Importers.

What an eye-opener! You think you know olive oil? Guess again!
Marco explained the importance of speed in processing, the definition of organic, cold press, first press, virgin and extra virgin and the varying label regulations for origin, content and distribution. We learned that olive oil is as unique and subjective as wine, and we washed it all down with various vinos and a lovely antipasti.
