Coronavirus Testing Expanding For South Bay Residents, LA County

South Bay and Peninsula residents can sign up this week for coronavirus testing. Find the closest location near you.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The need for testing for coronavirus continues and LA County is expanding testing and opening new sites in high-need areas.

Appointments are available this week at additional LA County-operated coronavirus testing sites, including one location near South Bay and Peninsula residents: Beach Cities Health District, 514 N Prospect Ave., Redondo Beach, CA 90277.

County testing sites can test more than 55,000 residents each week with increased testing. This is a jump from 40,000 testing slots and a move to better help communities most vulnerable to the virus.

COVID-19 testing is also offered through the city of Los Angeles supported sites, State-supported testing sites through Optum Serve and Verily, select CVS, Rite-Aid, Federally Qualified Health Clinics.

"LA County residents seeking testing should contact their provider first, if they have one," according to a news release. "Testing at all County and City-operated sites is prioritized for people with COVID-19 symptoms, people working or living in high-risk places such as skilled nursing facilities, group homes and residential care facilities, persons experiencing homelessness, and people who were in close contact with someone with COVID-19."

As of Monday, the number of people hospitalized in LA county was reported at 1,784 patients.
