Police Investigate Suspicious Package Near Downtown Santa Monica
Police Sunday were investigating a suspicious package in the downtown Santa Monica area.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Police in Santa Monica Sunday were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the downtown area.
SWAT responded to 7th Street, between Arizona Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, at 12:41 p.m., according to Santa Monica police. People were asked to find alternative routes and avoid the area. The area was cleared by 2:11 p.m.
The vehicle was deemed safe, Santa Monica Police Lt. Joseph Cortez told Patch.

"A community member was utilizing a propane tank to operate a component of their vehicle and it did not look safe to emergency workers so they called in the experts from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department," Cortez said. "Fortunately it was learned that there was no threat to the community."
