Man Shot By Police In High Speed Redondo Chase Gets 9 Years

An officer-involved shooting ensued, in which the suspect was wounded.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – A Walnut man who led police on a pursuit and was shot by authorities after driving toward a Redondo Beach police officer pleaded no contest Thursday to three felony counts.

Thomas Mark Dallaire, 37, was immediately sentenced to eight years and eight months in state prison following his plea to one count each of assault on a peace officer, fleeing a pursuing peace officer's vehicle while driving recklessly and driving or taking a vehicle without consent, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Dallaire led police on a pursuit through Redondo Beach and San Pedro on Dec. 10, 2016. During the chase, Dallaire crashed the vehicle he was driving into another car and then put the vehicle in reverse as a Redondo Beach police officer was approaching him near Gaffey Street and Summerland Avenue in San Pedro, authorities said.

An officer-involved shooting ensued, in which Dallaire was wounded. He managed to drive away, but the chase ended in the area of 17th and Leland streets after the vehicle malfunctioned, prosecutors said.

Dallaire has remained behind bars since then, according to jail records.
