AWOL Soldier Found In San Mateo County
Before he was located, army officials said they were concerned about his welfare and were working with local officials to locate him.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County sheriff's deputies apprehended a U.S. Army soldier Tuesday after the man was reported absent without leave, or AWOL, that morning, army officials said.
The soldier was in a Combat Support Training Exercise at Fort Hunter Liggett when at 10 a.m. he was reported AWOL. Army officials don't know when he left but he left the facility in a Humvee without authorization.
Before he was located, army officials said they were concerned about his welfare and were working with local officials to locate him.

The soldier was turned in to military custody after the sheriff's office found him at about 7 p.m., according to army officials.
The army is currently investigating the incident.
