Nine Lives Foundation to Offer Fee-Waived Adoptions on

June 7 During 2nd Annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day

More than 150 California animal shelters to offer fee-waived adoptions, most covered by the ASPCA, with the goal to find loving homes for 5,000 pets

On Saturday, June 7, Nine Lives Foundation will join more than 150 California animal shelters in holding fee-waived adoption events as part of the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day, hosted by the California Animal Welfare Association (CalAnimals), the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA), and the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®).

“We are excited to be part of this state-wide effort that will provide free adoptions for so many homeless pets so they can find loving homes,” said Executive Director Liam Montgomery. “With Kitten Season in full swing, the shelter is bursting with kittens all looking for their forever families – in addition to adult cats who are slower to be adopted, but still make wonderful family members and companions.”

WHAT: Nine Lives joins animal shelters across the state for the 2nd annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day to offer fee-waived adoptions for available animals like these:

WHEN: Saturday, June 7, 2025 – 12 – 5 p.m.

WHERE: 3106 Rolison Road, Redwood City, CA 94063

WHY: Adopting a pet from your local animal shelter has many benefits as Nine Lives and most shelters vaccinate, spay/neuter, and microchip animals before they are adopted. As a result, adopting means families and individuals are getting a pet who has already received initial medical care that is appropriate for their species, and the staff at the shelter will also ensure you are matched with an animal who is the right fit for your lifestyle.

Nine Lives Foundation, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides lifelines for at-risk cats and kittens and affordable, compassionate care for felines and the people who love them. Their cat clinic is located at 3137 Jefferson Avenue Redwood City, CA 94062 and adoption center is at 3106 Rolison Road Redwood City, CA 94063. The adoption center is open Wednesday-Friday noon- 5pm and Saturday-Sunday 10am - 5 p.m.

Nine Lives is committed to addressing the overpopulation of homeless cats by providing low-cost spay and neuter services and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for community cats. Collaborating with dozens of local shelters and foster-based rescues, they share healthcare resources and adopt hundreds of cats and kittens into loving homes each year. The cat clinic also offers affordable vaccines and veterinary services.

Since 2004 their mission has been to rescue animals and provide them with clinical care and nurturing to address medical and behavioral needs. In 2024 alone, they provided more than 6,200 spay/neuter surgeries and adopted 950 cats and kittens into loving homes.

Nine Lives relies on the generosity of compassionate supporters. Together with Bay Area families and the animal welfare community, they save animal lives and make the Bay Area a better place to live.
