REDWOOD CITY, CA — March marks Women’s History Month, an opportune moment to recognize the women who are inspiring change and leading with purpose in Redwood City.
The Redwood City Improvement Association is shining a spotlight on some of the women behind these local businesses who are making a lasting impact.

Looking for the perfect pour? Ingrid Campos, owner of De Vine, has curated a thoughtful selection of local Santa Cruz Mountain wines to satisfy every palate. Guests can enjoy a glass with a beautifully arranged charcuterie board or take home a bottle from a collection that features both international and boutique vineyards.

Leona Browne, who grew up in a large family in Ireland, set out to create a place that felt like home after more than 20 years in California. The Wild Rover Irish Pub captures the spirit of a traditional pub, offering hearty food, live sports, and the friendly atmosphere that keeps guests returning.
Con Azúcar Café
Con Azúcar Café, known for its oversized conchas, is nestled in the heart of Downtown Redwood City. Owner Berenisse Cruz first opened the café in June 2025 to introduce Mexican-inspired coffee drinks and famous pan dulce to the community. It has quickly become a beloved neighborhood spot for the perfect morning or evening pick-me-up.
The Baker Next Door
Co-owned by Jenna Johnson, The Baker Next Door started as a popup before its significant popularity led to a permanent storefront. The business, owned and operated by a pair of neighbors, serves up delicious artisanal breads and handmade pastries, offering a welcoming place for the community to connect over quality coffee.
The Beauty Lounge
The Beauty Lounge has been a trusted neighborhood staple for decades, offering expert hair services and products. Leticia Randolph has operated the salon since 2006, honoring the legacy of her mother, Graciela Aguilar, whose original salon dates back to the 1970s. Today, The Beauty Lounge provides a full menu of services, including hair extensions, balayage, and makeup applications.
Angelica’s
With its inviting outdoor seating and vibrant atmosphere, Angelica’s serves California cuisine with a Latin twist. Owner Angelica Solorzano has thoughtfully curated a menu featuring fresh ceviches, seasonal salads, hearty entrées, and handcrafted cocktails. It’s a go-to for everything from girls’ night out to an elevated everyday meal.
Heartcore
Founded by the three Scannell sisters, Heartcore has been bringing megaformer fitness classes to Redwood City since 2014. Designed for all fitness levels, the low-impact workouts focus on building strength, improving posture and balance, and enhancing muscle tone under the guidance of expert instructors.
Mademoiselle Colette
Mademoiselle Colette channels the charm of a Parisian café, delivering French-inspired pastries and unique flavor combinations. Founded by Cordon Bleu trained pastry chef Debora Ferrand, the bakery emphasizes fresh, organic, and seasonal ingredients, with everything made daily to be enjoyed together.
Quinto Sol
Helena Sol, who grew up around her parents’ restaurant, opened Quinto Sol in 2012 with her partner, Hector, to bring Cocina Barroca Poblana of central Mexico to California. Now run by their daughter Alexa, the restaurant is known for its authentic menu, fresh ingredients, and vibrant atmosphere.Women Leaders on the Redwood City Improvement Association Board
The Redwood City Improvement Association Board of Directors, which is made up of downtown property owners and at-large community members, is significantly led by women, with 12 women serving on the 17-person board.
Here are some of the women making an impact behind the scenes:
- Amanda Anthony represents the City of Redwood City and is a strong advocate for supporting small businesses. Her favorite women-owned local spot is Lotus Thai Massage and Wellness.
- Jeri Richardson-Daines is a Community Member at Large and is the 4th generation of her family living in Redwood City.
- Stacey Wagner represents Kaiser Permanente and has been on the board since its inception in 2015. She recommends the women-owned Angelica’s for its great menu, ambiance, and service.
- Kate Mosley, owner of Orangetheory, lives and works in Redwood City and suggests stopping by the women-owned Heartcore for a tough workout.
- Nancy Radcliffe serves as a Community Member at Large and encourages everyone to visit the women-owned Parisian caféMademoiselle Colette.
