Coroner IDs Man In Deadly Redwood City Train Strike
The elderly man was a local resident.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Coroner's officials have publicly identified a man who was hit and killed on Redwood City Caltrain tracks last week as a local resident. Jerome Thomas Reed died after he was struck at 5:09 p.m. Thursday by southbound train. He was 81.
The Redwood City resident was hit while on the tracks at the Brewster Avenue grade crossing, according to Caltrain and San Mateo County coroner's officials.
Caltrain officials said Reed was trespassing when he was hit.

None of the 454 people aboard the train was injured.
The San Mateo County sheriff's Transit Police Bureau, which patrols the Caltrain corridor, is investigating the collision, which is Caltrain's fifth fatality of 2018.
