'Loaded Shotgun Hidden Within Reach' of Man in Peninsula Traffic Stop: Cops
Police say they arrested a man after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a loaded weapon. [BREAKING]

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police arrested a man Wednesday after a traffic stop revealed he was illegally driving around town with a loaded shotgun next to the driver's seat, officials said.
The driver was pulled over on suspicion of several vehicle code violations near Hillsdale Boulevard and U.S. Highway 101 at about 3:30 a.m., according to San Mateo police.
"The sole occupant and driver, 23-year-old Nicholas Devine, was found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest, including one for firearm possession," police said in a news release.

After his arrest, "... a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded shotgun hidden within reach of the driver," according to police. He was taken to the San Mateo County jail on weapons charges and for the warrants.
