Mercedes Driver Sought In Peninsula Hit-And-Run
BREAKING: Police say a man was hit while walking in a local crosswalk — and the driver fled the scene.

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police on Friday asked for the public's help finding a driver who hit a man in a local roadway and then fled the scene. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the middle of a storm, officials said.
According to police, the man was walking at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Humboldt Street when he was hit.
"At the time of the collision it was a heavy downpour and visibility was limited," police said in a news release. "The pedestrian was struck while walking in the marked crosswalk."

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the man was taken to the hospital with injuries described as "moderate." Authorities had no luck finding the vehicle that hit him. It wasdescribed as a blue 2000's Mercedes Benz SUV.
