Officials blame Flock's mismanagement and say some outside agencies, including the FBI, were able to run searches, as nearby cities like Menlo Park and Santa Cruz also rethink or cancel Flock contracts.

Here's why San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is hiring an ombudsperson (rwcpulse.com) — San Mateo County is creating an ombudsperson role to handle complaints and improve communication around its jail system, including Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City. The position follows years of scandals, infrastructure problems, and advocacy for stronger oversight, and could eventually expand beyond jails depending on how well it works and public trust in current leadership.
