Peninsula CHP Officer's 'Carlton' Dance Is A Must See

After a somber ceremony at a Peninsula high school this week, one local officer had just the thing to help lighten the mood.

REDWOOD CITY, CA – Ah, The Carlton. A dance that can bring a smile to everyone's face, especially if it's done just right. There's just something about people making complete fools of themselves that gets a crowd going – even more so if it's an adult dressed in their professional work uniform.

California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Fifield managed to make a whole room full of teenagers crack up with his spot-on moves, which you can see below:

CHP Officer Art Montiel tells Patch the impromptu dance was captured on camera after the agency hosted the somber anti-DUI program "Every 15 Minutes" at Hillsdale High School on Wednesday. The event, which starts with a mock crash and wraps with a mock funeral to emphasize the dangers of drinking and driving, can be "very emotional and very draining" for the students, he said.

After the students had wrapped the program and the mood was still a bit somber, the officer tried to help lighten the feeling in the room.

"He just started dancing," Montiel said. "He did it first a little bit, and then we told him to do it some more... [the students] were all clapping and it was a good time."

"He is just a silly guy and he does all kinds of these things," Montiel said.

Thanks for making us all smile today, Officer Fifield! We think Alfonso Ribeiro, aka Carlton Banks, would approve.
